Your high-end products are an investment, and the chances are that you’ll want to ensure those goods are stored effectively.

Whether you’re preparing for a product launch, pitching to prospective investors or presenting your product to potential customers, everything needs to run smoothly with the storage of your products.

In this article, we talk through some of our top tips for storing your products and how we can help with storing, transporting and keeping them safe.

1. Clean Before Storing

Before storing your products away, it’s important to ensure a clean environment that prevents bacteria from forming and wreaking havoc on your products. Storing away dirty products can only attract bugs and other insects.

For this reason, make sure your products are clean and free of dust, dirt and bacteria, and only store your products in a clean, sanitised environment.

2. Consider Location

You’ll most likely want to choose a location that’s cool and dry and, of course, sanitised. However, the location must also be safe and trusted.

If you decide to put your products in a storage facility that provides regular access, then you may want to consider somewhere within close proximity. You can also choose a storage facility with appropriate security, including CCTV surveillance, secure locks, and a gated location.

We also recommend storing valuable products high up in your place of storage, keeping items off of the ground as much as possible to help with moisture and temperature control.

3. Choosing a Transportation Company

If your products will be transported by a third party, you might want to think carefully about the transportation company you use, and only choose a trusted company with a solid reputation.

Your transportation company should also be aware of requirements and be able to cater to these requirements, for example, transporting fragile products with care or keeping products at a certain temperature.

4. Accident Insurance

Even if your products are not fragile or of high value, you’ll still want some protection in the form of accident insurance. While most accidents are avoidable, they can still happen and can result in financial loss and disruption to your business.

To be safe, it’s always advisable to take out your own accidental damage insurance, ensuring that all parties involved in storing and transporting your products also have their own insurance.

5. Choose a Protective Solution

When it comes to protective bags and cases, you need to choose carefully. Products are susceptible to damage if not packaged properly, particularly with inevitable knocks and bangs when your products are on the move.

This is why a protective solution in the form of a protective product case is ideal for the safe packaging, storage and transit of your products in virtually any environment.

Secondly, you may also want to consider a protective interior solution for the case or bag, such as foam inserts, to help safeguard your products while they are in a protective case. Custom foam inserts can be CNC routed, waterjet or die cut to create perimeter shapes and recesses for your products to sit within.  These custom cut foam inserts will protect and support your equipment whilst in storage or transit.

Protective cases with custom foam inserts offer the benefit of reducing the potential of equipment damage.  They also assist in the prevention of loss of items or inability to work efficiently due missing equipment if they are produced using a dual colour tool control approach that can highlight missing components at a glance.
